Katherine L. Howland, 66, of Rockford, IL passed away on November 29, 2022. She was born in Rockford, IL on January 28, 1956 to Howard and Ethel (Donovan) Hill. Kathy went to East High School. She married the love of her life, Bruce Howland, on December 15, 1973 and together they had 2 wonderful children. Kathy was very sociable and everyone that she ran into instantly became a friend. She had a huge heart and always put others needs before her own. You could always find Kathy watching QVC. Family was extremely important to her and her grandchildren were her whole world. Kathy will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bruce; her children, Roxanne Howland and Nicholas (Carla Kerchmar) Howland; her grandchildren, Liam, Gavin, Marlee Reeder, Jalen Pratt, and Arianna Kerchmar; her mother, Ethel; her sisters, Cheryl Keller, Linda (Robert) Rahn, Debbie (David) Nelson, Teresa (John) Smith, and Elizabeth (Mike) Ellis; her brother, Louis (Collette) Hill; numerous nieces and nephews; her special friend, Dawn Butler. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to all of the Nurses in the Critical Care Unit at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for all of their compassion and care.
Memorial Service for Kathy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the start of service.
