Larry Alan Bennett, 69, of Loves park passed away January 12, 2019. He was born December 20, 1949 to Eunice Grahm. Larry served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army; he served active duty during the Vietnam War. He continued in his service to the community at home by working as a correctional officer at the Dixon Correctional Center where he worked for 24 years. Larry spent his free time enjoying baseball, engaging in fantasy football and contributing to his coin collection.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Kathy Bennett; son, Don (Jenny) Bennett; grandson, Brennan Bennett; brother, Duane (Elaine) Bennett; nieces, Candi (Alan) Noble and Angie (Mike) Peters; Aunt, Sarah Graham and numerous cousins.
Larry is predeceased by his first wife, Debbie Bennett; son, Justin Bennett and Parents, Eunice and Don Bennett.
Funeral services for Larry will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 10:00am at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine rd. Machesney park IL 61115.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 9:00am at the funeral home until the time of service.
