Larry Albon Prielipp was born January 25, 1942 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Ralph Albon Prielipp and Annabelle M. Harnish Prielipp. The family moved to Rockton, Illinois to a family farm and then to South Beloit, Illinois. Larry is a graduate of South Beloit High School, class of 1960. Larry married Lurene Harwood Prielipp on January 25, 1964 in Rockford, Illinois. Larry’s career path took him from delivering papers in the South Beloit area, to working at the first McDonalds in Rockford on North Main Street and finally to Camcar Textron, retiring after 42 years. Larry loved the outdoors, you could find Larry and Lurene riding bike trails. Their favorite was the Elroy to Sparta trail. Camping, driving vacations and visiting many of the 50 states were favorites as well. Their trip of a lifetime was spending their 40th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. From a young age, Larry had a love of cars, spending most of his Sunday mornings polishing them, his favorite was his cherry red Cadillac, he still mourns her demise. In later years, they were Winter Texans and Florida Snow Birds. Larry loved to garden and was very proud of his many beautiful flower gardens at his home. Some other favorite hobbies were: photography, coloring and puzzles. Another favorite pastime was sitting in his drive way watching the traffic go by, always as he said “he was practicing for retirement.”
Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lurene; son, Lee A. (Karen Folowell) Prielipp of Genoa, IL; daughter, Brenda R. Carlson of Lake Wales, FL; son-in-law, Edward Carlson of Spring Hill, FL; grandson, Zakary (Sierra) Prielipp of Sycamore, IL; granddaughter, Jacklyn (Kyleen) Sentek of Carbondale, IL; grandson, Gabriel Carlson of Lake Wales, FL; granddaughter, Hannah Carlson of Lake Wales, FL; grandson, Dylan Folowell of Genoa, IL; great-grandsons, Elliot and Dean Prielipp of Sycamore; Sister-in-law, Cheryl (Thomas) Riley of Fort Wayne, IN; sister-in-law, Sandra (Ronald) Rayman of Kingwood, TX; brother-in-law, Gregory (Susan) Harwood of Little Chute, WI; sister-in-law, Linda Harwood of Loves Park, IL; brother, Rodney (Judy) Prielipp of Paw Paw, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Special neighbors, Art and Jane, Bill and Wilma and Barb. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Michael Prielipp, daughter-in-law, Cindy Prielipp, father Ralph Prielipp, mother Annabelle Prielipp Dempsey, step-father, Francis Dempsey, mother and father-in-law, Luren and Betty Harwood, brother in law Gary Harwood, sisters, Judey Prielipp and Nancy (Cecil) Riley.
Larry was a bit of a jokester and his favorite thing to say was “GLAD YOU GOT TO SEE ME!” to all the grandkids when they were leaving. It was especially fun for all of them to see who could say it first.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a visitation to be held from 12:30 p.m., until the time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to the family.
