

Linda Marilyn Elliott, born March 15, 1945, in Charleston, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. A longtime resident of Stillman Valley, Illinois, Marilyn lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and unwavering love of family, friends, and community.
Marilyn graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1983, beginning a career in long-term care that spanned more than three decades. Her work was far more than a profession - it was a calling. Throughout her years in nursing and administration, Marilyn influenced the lives of countless staff members, and she provided dignity and comfort to thousands of residents and families. She retired in 2012 as Executive Director of Senior Services at Lutheran Social Services, leaving behind a legacy of care that continues to this day.
Beyond her career, Marilyn was known for her deep love of animals. She was an avid cat lover who never met a "kitty" she didn't want to bring into a safe and loving home. Her compassion extended to every creature she encountered, and her gentle heart made her a source of comfort to both people and pets alike.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Russell Elliott, the love of her life. She was a devoted mother and mentor to her sons, Tim (Kay) Elliott and Todd Elliott, and she took immense pride in the family they built together.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Amber (Daniel) Mauer, Tyler (Rebekkah) Elliott, Maisie Elliott, Tristan Elliott, Micki Grin, Jacob Frasca, and Isabella (Trent) Grin. She cherished them deeply and celebrated every milestone in their lives. Also, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends who were an important part of her life even up to the end.
Marilyn was predeceased by her father, Arthur Jenkins; mother, Doris Jenkins; brothers, Clifton Jenkins and Jerry Jenkins; and sisters, Carolyn Wright and Evelyn Wright. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her entire life.
A special thanks goes out to Nick and his entire team at Northern Illinois Hospice for the professionalism and compassion they showed during Marilyn's final weeks. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to longtime friend and caregiver, Maggie Raby, and to Kay Elliott and Micki and Bella Grin for providing devoted, around-the-clock care and comfort.
Services will be held Monday, June 29th at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service immediately following.
