Lorraine Ballard

Lorraine Ballard of Wesley Chapel, FL and Rockford, IL, passed away at home in Rockford on Saturday, December 9, 2023. She was born May 29, 1929 in Rockford, IL, daughter of H. Clayton and Mildred D. (Stoker) Collman. She married Donald E. Ballard on September 17, 1983. Lorraine attended and graduated from Rockford East High School, class of 1947.

She was a member of Forest Hills Country Club, Daughters of the Nile Alabet #31, and Tab'ltha, Fort Myers, FL, and former member of Marathon Yacht Club, Marco Island Yacht Club, and Red Hat Coasters of Marco Island, where she met "Bestest" friend Betty Jerie of Rockford, IL.

Lorraine really enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends. She loved to watch baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and had fun participating in a fantasy football league with friends.

She had lots of fun memories eating out with her late husband Don. Lorraine was very popular with everyone for her upbeat attitude. She always had nice things to say about people.

Lorraine is survived by sons Craig R. White (fiancée Joanna) of Buffalo Grove, IL, and Mark C. (Bonnie) White of Wesley Chapel, FL; step-granddaughter, Heather (Robert) Baricak of Wesley Chapel, FL; step-great granddaughter, Addison Baricak of Wesley Chapel, FL; stepson, Randy (Sharon) Ballard of Rockford, IL; stepdaughter, Donna K. Ballard of Rockford, IL; nephews, Carl (Judy) Ballard of Caledonia, IL, and Bert "Ed" (Christina) Ballard JR. of Tampa, FL; niece, Barbara Kant of Rockford, IL; and many beloved friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Ballard, parents H. Clayton and Mildred D. (Stoker) Collman and many beloved friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Carpenter's Place in Rockford, IL.

Lorraine's Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park, IL 61115.
