Marilyn A. Dreger, 84, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, March 21, 2023 at TLC Community Living. She was born October 3, 1938 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Herbert and Alice (Layng) Cordell. Marilyn graduated from West High School, class of 1956. She married the love of her life, Edward Dreger on July 4, 1957. Marilyn was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was involved with their annual “Fun Fest”. Marilyn owned and operated E & M Lettering for several years. She was a talented oil and acrylic painter. Marilyn enjoyed ceramics, quilting, knitting and crocheting. Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Martin (Paula) Dreger, Timothy Dreger with ex-wife Terése, and Alisa (John) Lee; grandchildren, Nicole Dreger, Giana Dreger, Amber (Peter) Brackett and Tanja (Dylan Wells) Lee; great grandchildren, Molly, and Alice, brother-in-laws, Wallace Dreger and Harold Bogart; sister-in-laws, Marlette Anderson and Rojean Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, brothers, Bob, Tom, Keith and Jack, sisters, Nancy, Francis and Wanda.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave, Loves Park, IL 61111.
