Marjorie Mae Edwards, 75, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday June 25, 2020. Marge, born on January 15, 1945, to Forrest and Doris Hall, was the first baby born in Lemmon, South Dakota that year. She grew up on the family ranch in Lemmon and moved to Spearfish to attend Spearfish High School where she met her forever love, Donald “Roy” Edwards. They married January 15, 1965 and moved to Rockford, IL in 1966, where they raised their family and developed many meaningful lifelong relationships. The Rockford area became their home for the next 50 plus years with Marge babysitting and going on to work at Clinton Electronics and then at GC Thorson for 20 years before retiring. During this time, they were faithful members of Grace Lutheran Church in Loves Park. Marge believed in and upheld what was right and had a work ethic to challenge and inspire others. She loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, playing games and spending time with children of all ages. She was a gentle and kind woman who could love anything put in front of her and find the value in things that others would quickly discard. She was patient and compassionate with all things--children, animals, adults, time, and situations. A wonderful example of a wife, partner, friend, mother, grandmother, and servant of the Lord. She celebrated the accomplishments of others no matter how big or small, and reveled in the beauty of family, pets, and flowers. Her encompassing love, belief in others and sacrifice will leave a legacy for generations to come.
Marge leaves behind her adoring husband of 55 years, Roy Edwards; two of her children, Randy (Melanie) Edwards, Rebecca (Eric) Newble; daughter-in-law, Trish Edwards; her eight grandchildren, Scott (Trisha) Edwards, Cyndi (Brad) Edwards-Erxleben, Eric Newble Jr., Kara Edwards, Jacquelynn Edwards, Hannah Newble, Cory Edwards, Aaliyah Newble; her five great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Bryan, Payton, Jackson, Princeton; her three siblings Bill (Eileen) Hall, Ray Hall, Eileen (Dave) Misener; and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Doris Hall and her eldest son Rich Edwards.
