Mary Lou Christiansen

Mary Lou Christiansen 87, of Roscoe, IL, passed away on February 19, 2026. She was born on July 1, 1938 in Greenville, Michigan to Irving and Berneda Kellogg. Mary Lou attended and graduated High School in Belding, Michigan. She continued her education in Grand Rapids, Michigan, earning her associate’s degree, an accomplishment that reflected her dedication, determination, and strong work ethic. On February 19, 1954, she married the love of her life, Clarence Christiansen. They shared 72 beautiful years of marriage together, building a life centered on God, love, devotion, and unwavering partnership. Their bond was a true example of lifelong commitment.

Mary Lou worked as an accountant for 23 years at Sundstrand Corporation, where she was known for her reliability, attention to detail, and professionalism. She took pride in her work and the contributions she made throughout her career. Outside of her professional life, she found great joy in the meaningful moments of life. She loved doing puzzles, sewing, and creating crafts with her hands. She had a special gift for making holidays magical, pouring her heart into every detail so her husband, children, and grandchildren would feel loved and cherished. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and togetherness.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Rev. Clarence Christiansen; children, Clarence “Chris” (Amira) Christiansen Jr., Dale Christiansen, Rev. Andy (Becca) Christiansen, Berneda “Bunny” Struse, and Connie (Rev. Brent) Miller; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving Kellogg and Berneda Gould; step father, Dale Gould; grandson, Ethan Struse; sisters, Barb, Gerry, and Skip; many aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 10am at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). She will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 1pm.
