Mary V. Gibson

Mary V. Gibson, 86, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, 2022 surrounded by her loving daughter. She was born August 28, 1935 in Radisson, WI, the daughter of John and Genevieve (Wellen) Fradette. Mary married the love of her life, Douglas D. Gibson on June 25, 1955 in Rockford. She was a faithful member of Broadway Covenant Church for 60 years where she served on the library committee and as a deacon. Mary was a paraprofessional for the special education department in the Rockford School District. She was an avid reader, cross word puzzle solver and always had a quilt in the works. Most of all, Mary had a passion for entertaining her family and friends with wonderful home cooked meals. Mary is loved and missed by her loving daughter, Jill (Jim) Page; daughter-in-law, Valerie (Ron) Piasecki; grandson, Christopher (Amber) Piasecki; great-grandson, Alexander; furry grandchild, Maddie; and brother, James (Diann) Fradette; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Douglas, son Jay Gibson, sisters, Mildred and Jeanne, and niece, Valerie Bucholz. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Broadway Covenant Church, 3525 Broadway, Rockford, IL 61108 with a memorial service to begin at 1:00 p.m. Private entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
