Mason J. Bernabe, 18, of Loves Park, IL, passed away suddenly, Saturday morning, September 16, 2023. He was born June 30, 2005 in Rockford, IL, the son of Ryan and Erika (Keller) Bernabe. Mason graduated from Harlem High School, class of 2023. He enjoyed playing football, wrestling, baseball and golf throughout his high school years. Mason was passionate about snowboarding, fishing, working on his car in his spare time, and spending time with family and friends. Mason was an outgoing, charismatic, kind, energetic young man. The most polite kid you could ever know. Although young, he accomplished so much in his short time and touched the lives of so many others.
Mason is loved and missed by his parents, Ryan Bernabe and Erika Bernabe; brother, Parker Bernabe; grandparents, Joanne and Eliborio Galdean and Paula Keller; aunts, Petra Bernabe, Angela Manriquez, Abby Keller and Erin Keller; uncles, Lane Hribal and Chuck Keller; numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kevin Keller and cousin Laci Matthews.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial to follow next to his cousin Laci at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
