Matt and I had a very complex history. He and my Dad have been precious stored memories that I hold and keep in the most secret places. I loved them and love them both still. The time I had was fleeting and more than anything I feel loss.
Matt had a brilliant mind and the most amazing sense of humor. Music courses through our veins and I pray that music plays eternally.

Matt, dude, you know how I felt about you, and it’s devastating you’re gone. It kills me .
I looked up to you in so many ways, and took everything you said to heart. I wouldn’t be who I am today if not for you. For real. Our time in Rockford was fun, Columbus was even better.
All my friends know of you, even if you never met them. I just hold you with high regard, and were a part of some of my best stories.
Just like others, you were my best friend, and at low times, my only friend. You always had my back, and you inspired me to no end.
I’ll be playing a Subgenius devival this weekend, and it’ll be in your honor. You’ve done Bob proud, and I am proud to have been your friend.
Seriously loved you man.

I am so sorry to hear of Matt’s passing and give my condolences to all his family and friends.
I went to school with him, and like many of our fellow classmates, have many fond memories of Matt in the classrooms or hallways.
May he rest in peace and live on in everyone’s memories forever.

I am very sad with this news. Even though I lost track of him in late adulthood, I will always remember Matt as a very funny, creative, and smart guy who made an impact on my life. I have many memories from the early 80s to 90s. He was my comic book buddy in the 6th grade. Later, we often hung out in his parents' basement listening to music. Matt knew his music. Oh yeah, and we played Dungeons and Dragons. I remember his first car and his first apartment. I was glad when he moved back from Austin, but then I moved to Kansas soon after. My heart and condolences go out to his mother who was always very nice to me, even though I didn't deserve it.
