

Maynard L. Johnson, 85, of Rockford, passed away on March 26, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family. Born September 13, 1925 in Rockford, the son of Walter and Melba (Linden) Johnson. Proudly served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S Prairie. He was a self employed painter. Member of SM&SF, Harmony, Teamster Retiree, Belvidere VFW and a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survived by his children, Vivian Johnson, Wayne (Sally) Johnson and Ronald Johnson; grandchildren, Miranda Johnson, Sarah (Jay) Vanderwiel, Brent Johnson and Laurel Johnson; siblings, Margie Harper, Roger (Beryl) Johnson, Barbara (Joe) Bollock and Walter (Jeanette) Johnson Jr.; brothers-in-law, Jack Wright and John (Nancy) Weerda; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Erma (Weerda) Johnson; sisters, Doris, Lucille, Muriel, Betty Pearson and Mary Lee Wright. Visitation from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Funeral services at 10 am on Thursday, March 31, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N.
