Michael “Mike” Jack Hughes, 78, of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away at home on Friday, June 27, 2025. He was born on April 18, 1947, in Rockford, to Jack and Laura Hughes. Mike was employed with Meyer Concrete as a cement truck driver throughout his life prior to retirement.
Mike’s most treasured hobby was his Harley Davidson bike. He loved going wherever, whenever. This led him to many friends throughout the year, and many good times. He never said no to a good party. Mike was witty, funny, and above all else, loyal. Mike was the kind of man you wanted in your corner. If you were his friend, he would protect and defend you by any means necessary.
He is survived by his children, Michael Meyer and Brooke Meyer-Clark; grandchildren, Sarah Meyer, Julia Clark, Jaxon Clark, and Drew Clark; loving sister, Pat (Patrick) McRill and her daughters, Kim (Bob) Pumphrey and Kelly (Brent) Anderson; great nieces and nephews, Skyelar, Kylie, Spencer, Jake and Makenna; brothers, Bob (Sue) Beck and David (Sherry) Beck; girlfriend, Bev Ames, and her daughters, Mindy and Janet, and granddaughter, Paisley.
He was preceded in death by parents and stepparents, Jack (Lucille) Hughes and Laura (Henry) Beck; four sisters, Jean Harvey, Sharon Brenner, Janis Speakman, and Mary Brown.
