A WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and a graduate of the University of Illinois, Milton retired from Barber Coleman after 44 years of employment as an engineering manager of the aircraft division.
An avid reader and Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed fishing, football, wood working, crossword puzzles, and spending time at his cottage in Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Roseanne Shatswell; children, Fred and Patricia Shatswell; step-daughters, Phyllis Schwebke, Janice (Wynford) Harries, and Nancy Ragsdale; grandchildren, Marc (Amy) Shatswell, Stephanie Dusing, Karissa (Ryan) Swanson, Steven (Julie) Lindberg, Jared (Nicole) Cook, Chance, and Tyler Ragsdale; and 10 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, daughter, Cecilia Lindberg; son, Kenneth Shatswell; daughter in law, Heidi Shatswell; and his sister, Helen Fleming.
