Morgan Rose Perteete, a cherub chosen by God announced her arrival with sounds of soft whimpering on, October 5, 2013 at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, IL. The daughter of Michael W. Perteete and Tammy Pete, Morgan was greeted with joyful thanksgiving.
Diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy, Morgan was treated in the critical care units of the University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital, Madison Wisconsin, and Lurie Children’s Hospital, Chicago Illinois, two of best hospitals in the nation for the treatment of pediatric epilepsy. Locally, Morgan blossomed under the care of Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. Avee Domitz-Gebet and her staff.
Unabated, the seizures came more frequently and Morgan required fulltime care at home. Her loving father and healthcare advocate came home to care for her full time. Strong and brave Michael gave her the love every child should know. Tammie prayed for Morgan from afar and loved her with all her heart when her own health prevented her from participating in Morgan’s care.
The bonds of love between Morgan and her daddy grew like flowers of the field, gently swaying in the in the breeze. Every life threatening battle, every special moment, and even the ordinary moments, they met hand in hand, an unbreakable circle of love.
Morgan spent every day with daddy and Sammie, their dog. She delighted in chasing Sammy, taking his toys and his favorite spot on the couch. The two of them together…sibling rivalry at its best!
A passionate thrower of every toy she owed, Morgan seemed destined to a pitcher. She had a throwing arm like no other. Curious about all things, she never met a baby gate that wasn’t eyed carefully for an escape route. And when all else failed, she’d lay on the floor and try to kick her way out.
Instinctively knowing to be gentle, Morgan was fascinated by electronic devises. An expert at finding her songs and cartoons on youtube, rarely asking for help, she explored the world of play through video. Her beautiful eyes would brighten wide at the sound of Row, Row, Your Boat. This little acrobat even found a way to stand on her head while looking at her tablet.
Uncle Brian charmed her world by simply twirling and swinging her in the air in the joyous wonderment of play as her Cousin Carter tried to keep her from throwing his toys. At Grandpa & Grandma Pete’s house, Morgan celebrated family birthdays and holidays happily playing with siblings, Celsie and Carson. Beauty Shop, a fun morning ritual with her Dad was also the highlight of her visit, with Celsie acting as her “real stylist.”
As evening fell on a hot summer day, the moon rose in the sky, and the sounds of crickets and cicadas filled the night...
Now I lay me down to sleep, The Lord I pray, my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.
As stars twinkled outside her window, angels sang, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Whispering quietly into the night, “Goodnight daddy, I love you, I will always be with you and you with me.” Morgan returned to the Lord on August 3rd, 2016, while sleeping peacefully in her bed, at the age of 2 years and 10 months.
Morgan is survived by her parents; sisters Alexandra Perteete, Celsie Romero and Macy Daughtry; brother Carson Romero, Rockford, IL; grandparents Sylvia Perteete, Indianapolis, IN, Michael (Debra) Perteete, Donald & Christy Pete; great-grandparents Charles & Ruth Perteete, Rockford, IL; A special uncle, Brian Perteete and cousin; Carter Perteete, uncles; Randy (Tawna) Pete and Rob Pete, Rockford IL.
