

Murl Lee Hill, of Rockford, IL, departed this earthly life on August 22, 2025 in her home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Born October 19, 1946, in Rosston, Arkansas, Murl graduated from McRae High School in Prescott, Arkansas in 1964.
Murl moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1964 and then relocated to Rockford, IL to later marry Robert C. Hill on January 13, 1973. She worked at Warner Lambert for nine years and then moved to Detroit, Michigan with her husband. Murl moved back to Rockford in 1978 and worked for the Rockford Literacy Council and the Rockford Public School District. She later attended Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL and obtained a certificate in Bookkeeping & Accounting in 1987.
As a devoted Christian, Murl was baptized in Rosston, Arkansas at an early age. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Beloit, Wisconsin and a former faithful member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher and New Members Orientation Class Teacher and Coordinator. Murl enjoyed singing in the church choir, traveling, gardening, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Murl leaves to cherish many loving memories including her devoted husband, Robert Hill; her children, Angela Hill, Arnetia Hill, and Reggie Hill (Jamie); her grandchildren, Chase Hill, Chandler Hill, Reggie Hill Jr., and Jaylin Hilton; her sisters, Murphilene Bell, Shirley Smith, Eller Dickens, and Mary Majors; her brothers, Roy Evans (Shirley), and Odis Evans (Althea); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Murl was preceded in death by her parents, LeOtis Evans and Emma Lee Evans, and her brother, Elize Lee Evans.
