Norma A. Draeger

Norma Ann Draeger (92 Years Young) from East Moline, Illinois went to be with her Lord Jesus September 5, 2018 at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation Center, South Beloit, Illinois. Norma will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. September 24, 2018 during a graveside service at Bethel Cemetery in Byron, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Parkinson Disease Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. Norma was born on August 2, 1926, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin the daughter of Arnold and Viola Steiner. She married Robert Raymond Draeger on February 4, 1951 in Fond du Lac. Immediately following her 1944 High School Graduation, Norma worked for Rayovac inspecting batteries for the war effort. Following the end of WWII, Norma worked for the Fond du Lac County Register of Deeds where she met her husband of 63 Years, Robert (Bob) Draeger, a WWII Navy Seabee Veteran. Due to Bob’s employment in the Consumer Finance Industry, Norma and Bob traveled from Wisconsin to Illinois where Norma worked as a Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant for various businesses such as: Parker Pen, National Lock Corporation, Black Hawk College and East Moline State Bank. She also did secretarial and bookkeeping work for various churches in the Illinois Quad City area. Following Bob’s retirement in 1987 from Credit Thrift Financial Corporation, she and Bob owned and operated Draeger Village Apartments in Moline, Illinois. Norma will be remembered most as a Devoted Child of Christ; a Loyal Wife, Wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Survivors include children, Cheryl Draeger, Moline, Illinois, Colonel (USA, Ret.) David and Kris Draeger, Roscoe, Illinois, Dawn (Thomas Beinke) Draeger-Beinke, Linn Creek, Missouri; 5 Grandchildren; 9 Great-grandchildren. In 1941, as a Preface to a High School Autobiography, Norma’s Mother wrote: “Norma to define you, I need to repeat a sentence or two of a children’s hymn; ‘Jesus wants me for a sunbeam to shine for him each day. In every way try to please Him, at home, at school, at play.’ That is what you mean to me, a ray of sunshine.”
