Ossie Lee Smith

Ossie Lee Smith, 87, of Rockford, IL, left this earthly life, Wednesday morning, August 17, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 1, 1935 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the daughter of Herbert and Edna (King) Murphy. Ossie was a Godly woman, who always put Christ first in her life. Ossie retired from Elco Industries, where her coworkers adored her. She enjoyed tending to her yard and was always redecorating her home. Ossie was the matriarch of our family and she adored her children and grandchildren.

Ossie is survived by her children, Glen (Rita) Smith, Melvin (Lorraine) Smith, Ellis Smith, Jr., Denise (Monta) Brown and Myrisa Smith; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, children, Wentz Smith and Ruby Smith, granddaughter, Damesha Smith, siblings, Dorothy Cook, Cornelius Murphy and Robert Murphy.
