Patricia Tate, age 79, of Machesney Park, Illinois was born into Heaven on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was born on October 19, 1943 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Vernon and Lillie (Hall) Smithee.
Patty leaves behind her husband Billy W. Tate; her daughter Debra (Tate) McBride; her grandkids Trisha (Matthew Hullinger) McBride, Tiffany (McBride) Wehmeyer; her great-grandkids Brendon Hullinger, Trista Strommen, Arianna McBride, Kali Hicks, Kaiden Wehmeyer, Mason Hullinger; her great-great grandson Bentley Hare; her sisters Joyce (Curly) Trout and Ada Ricker; and her many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings Dub Smithee, Jo Walker, Polly Stanley, and Ida Oelschlager.
Patty loved to sing and would often sing with her sisters. She enjoyed camping, boating and taking trips to Black Hawk Island. Most of all, she loved her family. Anyone who knew her, knew her as Mamaw. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, and enjoyed spoiling their grandkids. Mamaw liked to make those around her feel at home and loved. Mamaw worked at the Harlem School District where she retired and earned an award for her many years of great service.
A visitation for Patricia will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM. An entombment will occur Monday, March 6, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
