Ramona F. Selquist, 98, joined her husband LaVerne in heaven on Friday, October 25, 2019. Ramona was born on January 22, 1921 in Stoughton, WI, the daughter of Oscar H. and Helma (Monson) Sundby. She married LaVerne A. Selquist on May 11, 1946. Ramona was long time member of Tabor Lutheran Church and a Lifetime member of the American Legion. Ramona served as a surgical nurse in the Army Nurse Corp during WWII at Crile General Hospital in Cleveland, OH. Ramona worked as a Registered Nurse for Rockford Memorial and Rockford Clinic. Ramona loved keeping her family entertained during all the holidays by playing the organ.
Ramona is survived by her daughters: Louise Patterson and Kristine (Duaine) Beckland; brother Karl (Jackie) Sundby; grandchildren: Jennifer Pauley, Mona Haddox, Lori Scheck, Ragina Patterson, Clint Patterson and Joey Patterson; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Joe Patterson and grandson Mark Talbot.
The family would like to extend a special “thanks” to Shana, Amy and Jen for all the loving care that was given to Ramona.
Visitation for Ramona will be Friday, November 1, 2019 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; service will follow at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mercy Hospice Care.
