Randall Lane Knox, 56, of Rockton, passed away on November 24, 2012. Born on July 7, 1956 in Rockford, he was the son of Leo T. and Pauline (Holdren) Knox. He married Karen Hauser on March 17, 2000 in Jamaica. A 1975 graduate of Hononegah High School, Randall was a very active member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 219 for 33 years. Currently the Vice President, JATC Board Trustee, Welding Instructor and member of the Contract Negotiation Team for 12 years. He was also a marketing representative for PROGRIP Motorcycle Accessories. He enjoyed motorcycles, being an AMA member, amateur fishing, and taking vacations with the love of his life, Karen. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Karen; his mother, Pauline Knox; brothers, Gary (Cindy), Glenn (Donna), and Rick (Carole) Knox; sister, Kim (Jim) Didier; mother-in-law, Patricia (Carl) Rusch; father-in-law, Duane (Kelly) Hauser; brothers-in-law, David (Debbie) and Mike (Shirley) Hauser and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Leo T. Knox and brother-in-law, Brian Hauser. Funeral service, 10 a.m., Thursday, November 29, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Derek Melin will officiate. Visitation, 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, at the funeral home. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be submitted at

Randy was always my favorite uncle, in fact I use to dress like him when I was little, terrible decision!!, but I really looked up to him and he was by far my biggest fan!!, every time I ride I think about randy and know he's watching over me love you randy

It saddens me to hear of Randy's passing. I can still remember when we were kids and his family moved in next to us. I just know Leo was there to meet him with a big bear hug! Prayers and Blessings to the entire Knox family.

I always wanted to come and see you and Randy but never made time now Im so so sorry I didnt. I wish you all the best I know its hard but you will be fine with Gods help.

Randy was a great guy. All the messages from his friends are beautiful and heartfelt. What more can be said about a man that gave his heart to his family and friends? He is most certainly in good company up in Heaven! Love all Knox's
