Raymond T. "Ray" Myers, age 87, of Belvidere, Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 12, 1938 in South Dakota, the son of Theodore and Marion (Anderson) Myers. Ray proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, helping rebuild the infrastructure after World War II. He married the love of his life, Kathryn Schladweiler, on August 23, 1958 in Farmer, South Dakota. Ray was employed as a sheet metal worker for Osborne Sheet Metal in Rockford, and was in the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 219. He also worked as an auto mechanic with his son, Kevin, for many years. Ray enjoyed four wheeling in the Arizona desert with all of his friends. Ray enjoyed the Arizona sunshine and lived there for over 20 years. He loved traveling in his motorhome with his wife from 1996-2023. Ray had an engineers mind and was always thinking of innovative ways to solve problems. Most of all, Ray loved spending time with his family.
Ray is loved and missed by his wife, Kathryn; son, Kevin (Lisa) Myers; grandchildren, Tenesha (Darren) Craft, Matthew (Joanne Ning) Brenden, Marcus (Kaylee Clark) Myers and Michael (Sarah) Brenden; great-grandchildren, Morris Brenden; sister, Janet Gum; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Arlene and Vernon Brenden, brothers Stanley, Russell, Jerry and Vernon.
