

Rev. Wilmer "Bill" K. Jones, 90, of Rockford, IL went to be with his Savior and Lord on Thursday, July 8, 2021. Wilmer was born on November 1, 1930, in Rockford, IL to Harry and Ethel Jones. He was a life-long servant of the Lord, and he was a dedicated Pastor at numerous churches throughout his life. He began his service to the church and his faith when he graduated from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago IL on May 20, 1957. Wilmer was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed many Cubs games while living in Chicago with his wife, Marjorie. He was ordained at First Baptist Church of Rockford IL on August 2, 1957. His church ministry began in 1957 in Bradley, IL followed by his tenure at Community Baptist Church in Milledgeville, IL. Over the years he served as youth & associate Pastor of Windsor Baptist Church and was also an AWANA Commander there, Senior Pastor of Elmwood Baptist Church in Brighton CO, founder of Suncoast Baptist Temple in Clearwater, Florida, Senior Pastor of Faith Baptist in Beloit WI, and founder of the Heritage Baptist Church in Roscoe IL. His ministry was deeply supported by his loving wife of 64 years, Marjorie. He and Marjorie married on July 25, 1953. Marjorie and Wilmer selflessly served their community and loved their family deeply. They are once again united in their eternal home with Jesus.
Wilmer is survived by his son Dean (Mischelle) Jones; daughter Maralee Gray; grandchildren Derek Jones, Tyler Gray and Courtney Gray. He is predeceased by his wife Marjorie, parents; Harry and Ethel Jones, brothers; Harry (Marjorie B.) Jones Jr. Gerald (Edna) Jones, sisters; Dorothy (Donald) Kistler, and twin sister Barbara (the late Gail Gober, and Harry Whipple) Whipple.
Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 10am until the time of Memorial Service at 11am at First Baptist Church of Rockford (5304 Charles Street, Rockford, IL 61108, #815-395-0550).
