Rick H. Aschenbrenner, 75, passed away peacefully at home alongside family in Roscoe, Illinois, on Sunday, October 25, 2026. He was born on January 29, 1951, in Dixon, Illinois, to Zelma and Donald Aschenbrenner.
Throughout his life, Rick called Illinois, Arizona, and Missouri home before eventually returning to Illinois earlier this year to live with his daughter Corrie and her family.
Rick will be fondly remembered for his love of camping and fishing, classic cars, and NASCAR racing. As an avid fisher, he knew how to catch a fish and clean it like a pro. Any time someone reached out for help, he was always willing to do what he could. With a natural gift for understanding cars, you could call him, describe just about any car issue, and he could instantly assess the problem. His knowledge and passion for cars (excluding Fords) made him the person the family could turn to when something went wrong under the hood.
He is survived by his brother, Terry Aschenbrenner, of West Plains, Missouri; his daughters, Corrie (Jon) Klein, Stephanie (Dave) Stern, and Jenn (Brad) Lundmark; his son Todd Aschenbrenner; and his grandchildren: Corrie’s children, Kyla and Jace; Stephanie’s children, Chelsey, Matthew, Chloe, and Logan; and Jenn’s daughter, Brinley.
Rick will be missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created, and the moments shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. There is comfort in knowing that Rick is now reunited with his beloved dog, Tiki, who held a special place in his heart. May he rest peacefully, forever remembered and always loved.
