Rita R. Thompson, 67, of Machesney Park, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024. She was born April 16, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Ordell and Lorraine (Kluver) Swenson. She graduated from East High School in 1975.
Rita worked for the FBI, Rockford Products, and Sal Brothers Eclipse. She operated her own house cleaning business for 20 years. She married Bill Thompson on November 17, 1995, in Rockford, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Thompson; children, Shanon Hallman, Brandon (Trish) Reagan, Kurt (Miranda) Thompson; her niece, Kelly (JD) Cusk; grandchildren, Trent Hallman, Remy, Violet, River, Oliver, and Henry Thompson, and Aries Reagan.
Rita's visitation will take place Friday, July 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM, until the time of her funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. She will be interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens following services.
