Robert Wayne McNaughton Jr., age 78, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was born May 31, 1948 in Rockford, Illinois to Robert and Pauline (Guffey) McNaughton Sr. He married the love of his life, Jill Harvey, in Rockton, Illinois on November 17, 1974 and they spent 33 wonderful years together before she passed in 2008. Bob worked for many years as a police officer before going on to become fire marshal at the Chrysler plant. Bob was proud of his time serving in the Army in Germany. He was a member of the Gentlemen Car Club of Loves Park and loved older cars. He enjoyed going on his computer and eating at his favorite local spots, Beef-A-Roo and Tom and Jerry’s.
Bob is survived by his sister, Edith (William) Whipkey; nieces and nephews, Andrea Johnson, Brian Johnson, Brian Johnson Jr., Brianna Johnson, Lynn, and Jeff.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jill McNaughton; and parents Pauline and Robert McNaughton Sr.
Private services will be held. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
