Rodney Joseph Gering

Rodney Gering, 66, of Machesney Park, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Born December 25, 1943 in Oconto, WI the son of Arthur J. and Mary Lois (Mineau) Gering Jr. He married Regina Badowski May 13, 1993 she survives. He was previously married to Bernice Delfosse on October 23, 1971 they later divorced in 1986. Rodney was a member of the V.F.W and the U.A.W. He enjoyed working outdoors, watching old movies, computers, cars and especially spending time with his family and helping people. Survivors include his son David (Kim) Gering, stepdaughter Joanne Corey; stepson Jim (LeAnn) VanDuyn; seven grandchildren: Nicholos Lighthart, Kristin and Jenna Corey, Jordan, Austin, Taylor, Xander VanDuyn brothers: David Lee (Marilyn) Gering, Bill Gering and Steve (Nancy) Gering; sisters: Cynde Gering and Kathy (Wayne) Vorpahl, special cousin Mike (Darlene) Mineau and many cousins; special friends Jason Sotos and Tammie Slusher, Chuch and Dana Schubb, Robbie, Shannon and Arianna Lingelbach, sister-in-law Barb (Bill) Kappen and her family Zack Kappen, Erik (Liza) Kappen, Tyler and Carter Kappen, sister-in-law Helen Badowski, brother-in-law Adam Badowski and his family Kathy (Jeff) Beaver, Justin and Ryan; brother-in-law Ed (Cheryl) Badowski and his family Amy and Julie Badowski; many nieces and nephews and cousins-in-laws. Rodney was predeceased by his mother Mary in 1999. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Saturday March 6, 2010 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Friday, March 5, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park.
