

Roger was born in Rockford on January 6, 1955, son of William D. and Helen H. He graduated from Auburn High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, Roger was employed with General Motors for 16 years, then finished his remaining years truck driving. He married Esmeralda A. Arana on November 4, 1989. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church where he gave his life to God and was Baptized with his wife and son Roger Jr. He loved to go fishing with his family and was a big fan of football as well as baseball. Roger really enjoyed spending his time watching the Bears and Cubs games with his family and going to family barbeques. He loved his country music and always loved to hear his family members play guitar and sing quite a few of his favorite songs.
Those left to honor Roger's memory include his wife, Esmeralda Durbin; children, Roger (Anastacia) Durbin Jr, Joe Luciani, Melissa Luciani, Ligia (Robert) Dorame, Jason Durbin, Britney Durbin, Reena Durbin; grandchildren, Kevin Lopez, Sabrina, Robert, and Sean Dorame, Serenity Durbin, Osiris and Ezra Zuniga, Brandon Davis, Natalie Todora, Donatella and Elijah Luciani, Sean and Melannie Beckford; great grandchildren, Kai and Liam Lopez, Ezekiel Davis; siblings, Connie (Patrick) Merten, Ron (Gayle) Booth, Shelly (Steve) Vandervort, Cathy (Ron) Wilken; brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Dallas (Chris) Booth, Leon (Sally) Booth, and his parents-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 10am until the time of service at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Agrace Hospice, Delavan Health Services, and the VA for their loving kindness, care and compassion during their time with Roger.
