

MACHESNEY PARK, IL. E. Roger Hoffman, 75, was welcomed into eternity on Friday, February 19, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 20, 1940 in Wabash, IN. to Earl R. and Deloris (Wintrode) Hoffman. He was a veteran of the Marine Reserve for eight years and was proud to serve his country. In 1961 he married Dixie DeVore and together shared 54 years while raising their two children. Roger worked for 36 years at Warner Lambert. While there, he received the European Patent Office Award as inventor of gum processing and packaging. He served his church on various committees and taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed golfing, Hot Rods and watching NASCAR racing, but most importantly, the time spent with his family.
Survivors: wife, Dixie; children, Teri (Jeff) Zimmerman, Scott (Margaret) Hoffman; grandchildren, Branden (Kelli) Bauer, Abby Bauer, Lucy Hoffman, Zach Hoffman; great-grandchild, Mason Manning; sisters, Gloria (Ike) Binkerd, Ruth Lines; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb, 23 at Beth Eden Church 3201 Huffman Blvd. Rockford, Il. Visitation: 4:00 ~ 6:00 p.m. on Mon. Feb. 22 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Rd.
