Roger Leroy Wheaton passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Friday February 23rd at the age of 79. He is predeceased by his parents, Gay and Mary Roser Wheaton, several siblings, loving wife Sally Tavernie and lifetime companion Ruth B Keller. Roger is lovingly remembered by his nephew Ray Keller, niece Kim (Shane) Klinger and many other caring friends and relatives. Roger was born in Rockford IL on August 27, 1938. He retired from Nissan Forklift where he was employed as a welder.
Roger enjoyed sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. He could always be found in his favorite chair reading his bible, working crossword puzzles and spending time with his friends. Roger was a member of Water of Life Ministries in Rockford. He was rarely ever seen without his bible close by and passed his time studying the word. He was a caring and giving friend who gave of his time and energy without ever expecting anything in return. Roger always went above and beyond for those who called on him for help and his door was always open. Special thanks to his best friends Steve and Mark and John for their many years of friendship.
