Roger was born on April 14, 1950 in Rockford, the son of Jerry Miles and Lillian Zilka. Roger worked as a Tool & Die maker for Amerock, he was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and loved to build model airplanes to fly, he also liked photography.
Roger is survived by his brother Kenneth Zilka and sister Donna (Don) Francis; niece Samantha Peter (Rob) and their daughter Callie; nephew Todd Zilka; niece Toni Wright and her children Justin, Faith, Lindsay and Cassidy; nephews Nick Zilka; nephew, Don Francis (Jeanna) and their daughter Lily; nephew Andy Francis and fiancé Amy.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
A service to celebrate Roger’s life will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday July 21, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation will be from 2:00 Sunday until time of service at the funeral home. Entombment will be private.
