Ronald D. Mattson, 78, of Roscoe passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Javon Bea Hospital with family by his side. Ronald was born on July 15, 1941 in Rockford, the son of Lloyd and Audrey (Larson) Mattson. Ronald married Irene M. Bartosiewicz on December 30, 1993. Ronald was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Ronald was 3rd generation owner of 11th Street Auto Supply and loved working at Emery Air Freight. Ronald loved cars and attending the Hot Rod Power Tour with his son Jeff. He loved riding his motorcycle on road trips with Irene. Ronald loved spending time with his family, his grandchildren, any tropical place which included Florida and Maui. Ronald always had a positive attitude, loved his diet coke and his furry friend “Buttons”.
Ronald is survived by his wife Irene; sons Jeff Mattson and Gregg (Ande) Mattson; step-children Sara (Rick) Knutson and Rob (Laura) Wanke IV; grandchildren Brandon (Meadow), Kyrah, Maren, Andrew and Ashley; sister Sheri (Mike) VanDeusen. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, son Mykel and grandson Matthew.
Service to celebrate Ronald’s life will be 11:00 am on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation for Ronald will be from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Arlington Cemetery in Rockford.
