Ronald Roy Ure, age 86, born September 27,1932. Passed into enteral life on October 13, 2018. The son of Robert and Lula (Sternitzky) Ure, born in Granton,WI. Ronald moved to Rockford,IL in 1964 and worked at Greenlee for many years. Ronald became pen pals with Victoria Borela (Ure) from Bay Bay Leyte Philippines. They enjoyed 38 years together before her passing on May 19, 2008, they spent time traveling to Canada, Ireland, Paris, Arizona, several times to the Philippines, also a cruise in Alaska. Ron was very crafty, he had a deep love for wood working. He could make just about anything you think of, and he had his own ways of fixing everything even if it needed a little bit of duct tape. Ronald enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows; one of his favorites was The Price is Right. Ron loved breakfast food, every Sunday morning he and his son, Edward Ure would go out for breakfast, Ron’s choice most of the time was 5 coins.
Ronald had a very big heart. He loved spending time with all his family and friends, Ronald had a sweet tooth, he always had candy and would load the great grandchildren up on candy. His granddaughter (Corrina Darnell) became a very special care giver at the end if his life's journey. Our family would like to say thank you Jessica, Beaula, and Shiquita (Tiny) from Help At Home. Also showing gratitude to Hospice Care of America nurses & Drs Erika, Laura, Shannon, Laurie, Cheryl, and Sarah for being there every step of the way of Ron’s last days and never leaving his side, even when he put up a good fight. We thank you so very much and each and every one of you are much appreciated.
Ronald Roy Ure survived by 2 sons Teddy (Nancy) Ure of Poplar Grove, Edward (Christy) Ure of Machensey Park, IL; 2 daughters Donna (Burdette) Coberley of Boscobel, WI and Mary (Dan) Wekenmann of Rockford, IL
Ronald has 10 wonderful grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren: Joshua Coberley ,Adam Coberley, Tristana Fischer, Ryan Ure, Christopher Lopez , Chad Lopez, Corrina Darnell, Cody Lopez, Austin Ure, Alex Ure, one sister, Rita (Duwayne) Rollins of Chili, WI. As well as numerous nieces & nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his wife Victoria, his parents, a son, Jimmy Ure, two sisters, Lila Schmidt and Muriel Ure, one brother, Lloyd Ure all of Wisconsin and a great granddaughter, Carlee Ann Ure.
A Celebration of Ronald's life will be held from 2-6 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the American Legion Post 1207, 1011 South Alpine Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Burial will be held at 2:45 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
