Shirley A Myers

Shirley Myers, 86, of Rockford IL passed away February 9, 2022. Shirley was born in Princeton MN. on September 3, 1935 to Lawrence and Violet Thompson. She moved to Illinois at an early age. Graduated East High school class of 1953. Shirley married Thomas Rader. He predeceased her. She later married Bob Myers, he also predeceased her. She is survived by her 5 daughters; Bonnie (Howard Metcalf) Beck, Nancy ( Jesse) Paylor of Colorado, Barb (Craig) Steuart of Rockford IL, Nina (Rich) Loveland of Cherry Valley, Denise (Marvin) Russell of Lyndon IL, her brother; Bruce (Pam) Thompson, grandchildren; Tricia (Mark) Rush, Jennifer (Mark) Kerry, Scott (Nikole) Ammon, Nicole (Dylan) Vaughan, Michelle (Darell Wilks) Steuart, Emily (Jim) Clarida, and Rachel (Josh) Miller, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members she loved dearly.

She is predeceased by her husbands; Thomas and Bob, Parents, sister; Lois Seiter, brother; Dallas Thompson, son; Bradley Koerner, and infant daughter; Diane Koerner and her beloved Yorkie “Bobbie”.

Shirley retired after 30 years of service at Elco Tool. She was truly a remarkable lady with an infectious laugh. She loved to sing to her kids and grandkids. She loved her garden and had a very green thumb, and she loved Halloween. She also loved to travel and had a vast collection of keychains and coloring books. She was a “Packer Backer” and an avid Cubs fan.

The family would like to thank Maple Crest Care Center and OSF Hospice for their loving care of Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OSF Hospice.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16 between the hours of 5pm and 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Located at 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115. Funeral services will take place Thursday February 17 at 10am at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
