Stephen E. Soldin

Stephen Elmer Soldin, aged 69, passed away on August 26, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Merced, California on March 17, 1952 to Martha F. and Elmer A. Soldin. He married Cheryl Theresa Soldin on November 26, 1976 and had four sons. Stephen worked 43 years at the Sundstrand Corporation, now Rockwell Collins, and retired in 2018. After retiring he loved working on his 1965 Ford Mustang. Stephen was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his children, Stephen (Rockford, IL), Ryan and Lori (Phoenixville, PA), Nick (Everett, WA), and Jeff and Amber (Rockford, IL), and grandchildren Haleigh, Riley, and Jack. Stephen is survived by his siblings Gerald and Glenda Holmes, Beverly and Tom Moore, James Soldin, Janell Dixon, many nieces and nephews, and family friend Steven Keenan. In lieu of donations please make charitable contributions to St. Jude’s Hospital or Mayo Clinic.

A visitation for Stephen will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois, followed by a service to celebrate Stephen's life at 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Love at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
