on August 24, 2022. She was in residence at the Wesley Willows independent living
facility in Rockford, Illinois at the time of her passing.
She was the beloved daughter of Helen and Carrol Campbell (deceased) born
November 26, 1943 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She attended Rockford West High
School and followed that with a BA degree in teaching from Northern Illinois University
graduating in 1965. She married Richard L. Christensen on August 6, 1966 and moved
to Elmhurst, Illinois where she continued to teach first grade in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
In 1976 Sue and Dick moved to Lake Forest where she enjoyed retirement and
was able to spend the summers at their home in Ephraim (Door County), Wisconsin.
At the same time, she was also involved with the many activities in Lake Forest
including the Lake Forest Historical Society (past president), along with the garden club
and book club. She was an avid reader often consuming a book in one or two days.
While in Ephraim, she was an active member of the Ephraim Historical Society, the
Ephraim Yacht Club and the Bethany Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to a charity of your choice or to the
Ephraim Historical Foundation in Ephraim, Wisconsin. Sue will be interred at Sunset
Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. Services will
be private.
