Thelma Jean Day, age 87, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Born on August 27, 1939 to Lester and Pauline (Griffith) Aurand. Thelma worked for many years as a factory worker. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden. Thelma was a proud member of Windsor Baptist Church in Loves Park. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Thelma is survived by her children, Debbie (Kevin) Trull, Vern (Lisa) Day, and Connie Gall; sister, Vera Aurand; and brother, Raymond Aurand.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darryl Day in 2006; parents, Lester and Pauline Aurand; brother, Clarence Aurand; and sister, Marian Mahoney.
A visitation for Thelma will be held Wednesday, November 4 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial rites will be accorded at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
