Thomas A. Torpen, 59, of Rockford, IL, passed away on August 17, 2022 at Swedish American Hospital. He was born in Osseo, WI, on November 12, 1962 to Harold and Dolores (Lund) Torpen. Thomas graduated from Kishwaukee Baptist School in 1981. He worked as a CNC Machinist for over 20 years at Elco Textron Inc. Thomas was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He was a hardworking man and a great provider for his family and friends. Thomas always put everyone else’s needs above his own and would give someone the last dollar in his pocket if they needed it. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Thomas is survived by his son, Everett Torpen-Overton; his grandchildren, Dominick, Thomas M. Walker, Bentley Aries Vieau, and Betanya C. R. Overton; his siblings, William (Ann) Redig and Tammy Torpen; his nephew, William (Jean) Redig Jr; his niece, Bridget Redig; and an uncle, 2 aunts, 2 great nieces, and a great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
Celebration of Life for Thomas will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will start at 9:00 AM until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded.
