Vera Mae Franks Pratt, 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 while at VIA Healthcare Partners Wendover. She was born in Berrien County, Michigan to the late Floyd Franks and Berniece Guderian Franks. She is also predeceased by her son, Jerry Michael Kelley; daughters, Shelley Cox-Beyer and Ruthann Kelley; grandchildren, Mark Bloomingdale and Cory Martin; 9 siblings;
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Rick (Vickie) Pratt; daughters, Wanda Johnson, Kathleen (Doug) Kreft, Caren (Steve) Kuntz, Vicki Ashley and Sharon Jones; son-in-law, Bradley Beyer; grandchildren, Tomieka Kelley, Krista (Shaun) Donovan, Sarah (Quinn) Walter and Joseph Powell; great-grandchildren, Logan, Natalie, Lucas, Kaylen, Cadence, Alexa, Mckenna, Dylan, Haedyn and Zain; sisters, Linda (Bob) Frazier and Ruby (Ron) Castor; special friend, Robert Newcomb.
Vera's lifetime was spent giving to others in need. She had the biggest heart even though she didn't have an easy life, she didn't allow that to harden her. She was there whether you were family, a friend or a complete stranger. She enjoyed playing in her flower garden, and watching/feeding the birds. She loved running her salon and gave many free or reduced prices, if she thought you were struggling she was there for you. Many have grown to be giving people because she touched them. We will see you again in Heaven.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a burial of ashes to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
