Vicki L. Slojkowski

Vicki L. Slojkowski, 69, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, October 10, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 31, 1953 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Durward and Eunice (Roen) Barnes. Vicki was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Winnebago County Jail for many years, the University of Illinois and at Wesley Willows. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time on her deck and in her pool. Vicki adored attending her grandsons sporting events. Vicki will be remembered for her bigger than life personality, her sense of humor and her stubborn streak. Vicki was the shining light in our lives that will never dim.

Vicki is loved and missed by her daughter, Melissa (Ryan Dowell) Scudder; step-son, Kirk (Brittany) Bentley; step-daughter, Rachel; grandsons, Khylar Scudder and Griffin Dowell; sister, Shelby (Ron) Kern; brother-in-law, Tom Hinz; ex-son-in-law, Khad (Kristina) Scudder; father of her daughter, Bruce Slojkowski; nephews, Marc (Luz) Terranova, Zac (Jen) Kern, Shane (Nikki) Kern, Chris (Stef) Kern and Corey Thomas and her loyal dog, Trouble. She was preceded in death by her parents, significant other, Kirk Bentley, sister Cindy Hinz, and nephew, Christopher Terranova.

A memorial gathering for Vicki will be held from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
