Victoria "Vicky" V. Ezell

Victoria "Vicky" V. Ezell passed on July 13, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on December 10, 1962, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Leo and Mavis (Allen) Villarreal. Vicky graduated from Harlem High School, class of 1981. She married the love of her life, Ben Ezell, on November 12, 1988. Vicky was a loving caregiver and educator at Walter Lawson Children's home for 45 years, starting her career while in high school. Vicky was an integral part of the care and loving on many children throughout her career. Her work was truly her passion and her calling. Vicky never considered her job work, she adored the children she cared for.

Vicky's life revolved around her family. They thoroughly enjoyed any and all outdoor activities; whether traveling to go scuba diving, camping and fishing. Vicky loved gardening, where she would relax. She loved taking her dog, Bailee, for daily walks. She was a lifelong Christian, who lived out her faith in everything that she did. Vicky enjoyed being a member of City First Church, Rockford.

Vicky is loved and missed by her husband, Ben; children, Lucas Ezell and Brittany (Jeff) Shabatura; grandchildren, Marianna Shabatura, Ella Ezell, Meah Shabatura, Evelyn Ezell and Max Shabatura; parents, Leo and Mavis Villarreal; siblings, Thomas (Tina) Villarreal and Valorie Villarreal; niece, RaeAnna (Nathan) Amos; nephew, Ryan Villarreal; brother-in-laws, Greg (Cindy) Ezell and Doug Ezell; nephews, Brett and Bryan Ezell; nieces, Genni Ezell and Kristin Ezell; as well as many cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 p.m.

Vicky was our angel on earth and will be truly missed by all who came in contact with her.
