Virgil D. Moore, 89, of Machesney Park, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 14, 1931 in Knob, AR, the son of Thomas and Tolie (Williams) Moore. Virgil married his love, Estle McElyea on July 10, 1952. He proudly served in the United States Army in Korea. Virgil worked at National Lock for 29 years and went on to work at Riverside Plating in Janesville before retiring. He enjoyed music and was in a band in his younger years. Virgil enjoyed fishing and gardening. He always had a good joke to tell and adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virgil is loved and missed by his children, Tolie “Janett” Fiorello, Priscilla Tippitt, Kevin D. (Dayna) Moore and Deidre (Jared) Bloomquist; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Estle in 2017, son-in-law Larry Fiorello, grandson Troy Keller, and numerous siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a visitation to be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
