William “Bill” Elmer Lindsey, 77, of Machesney Park, Illinois quietly passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Bill was born in Asheville, North Carolina on September 17, 1948, son of James and Edith Lindsey. Quitting school in grade 10, Bill went back in 1988 at the age of 40 and obtained his GED. Bill started work in the hydraulic industry at Concentric Rockford (formerly John S. Barnes Corps) for 43 years. He had worked his way up from paint booth operator to manager of assembly and test.
Bill met his sweetheart, Wilma Spangler at John S. Barnes and married her on December 19, 1970, sharing 55 years together. Bill enjoyed many leisure sports, especially golf, bowling, and playing pool. He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most of all, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Wilma M. Lindsey; his children, Kimberly M. Bruno and Jennifer C. Lindsey; his grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Bruno and Olivia Lyman; and special friends, Ronald Lyman and Doc’s Diner Friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Brian Bruno; brothers-in-law, Harold, Gary, Jim, and Dick; and sisters-in-law, Vivian and Marg.
A visitation for Bill will be held on Wednesday, February 18 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm.
