Mr. William Bill C. Salsbury

William C. Salsbury, 87, of Rockford, IL passed away January 16, 2011 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born August 6, 1923 in Freeport, IL to the late Caroll and Elaie (Young) Salsbury. He Graduated from Central High School and then worked as an apprentice machinist until he joined the U.S. Marine Corp from 1943- 1946. After the service he was a Drywall Contractor where he then opened his own business. He retired after many years. After retirement William worked at Textron. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Bears fan. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1207, and the Eagles Club. William C. married Mary Ellen Sullivan, she predeceased him in 1976, married Mayford Coors, she preceded him in 1996, and later married Billie Ruble on December 3, 1997. Survivors include his wife of 12 years Billie, sons, William C. (Laurie), Michael, Daniel (Mary) Salsbury, stepsons, William (Judy) and Joseph (Becky) Heitz. Three grandchildren, William C. Salsbury, Joe M. and Ryan A. Salsbury. Predeceased by his siblings and stepson, Vernon Dawson. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Machesney Park, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday, January 24, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family.
