Winston Lawrence Yanni
December 1, 1978 – October 11, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Winston L. Yanni, who passed away on October 11, 2026, at the age of 47. Winston was born on December 1, 1978, in Columbus, Ohio, to his parents, John A. Yanni and Henrietta O. Yanni. He was a lifelong resident of Machesney Park and graduated from Harlem High School, where he enjoyed playing sports.
Winston went on to proudly serve our country in the United States of America Army (USAA) in the Global War on Terrorism in Iraq from April 2003–July 2004, earning a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. He later graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising Art Direction and was employed by Danfoss Engineering for over 15 years. Winston was a beloved son, brother, and a wonderful friend to all.
Survivors:
He is survived by his loving parents, John A. Yanni and Henrietta O. Yanni; his dear brother, John A. Yanni Jr.; and his precious sister, Aminata R. Yanni.
He was preceded in death by all his grandparents.
Winston will be remembered for his radiant smile, his contagious laughter that filled every room, his hilariously silly sense of humor, his unwavering loyalty, and his lifelong love for Michael Jordan (#23). His memory will live on through the example he set of how to be a better human, the beautiful art he created, and the countless lives he touched simply by being Winston. He would want us all to hug each other tighter, just as he would—and as only he could.
A special thank you to our many family members and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.
