Zachary Delos "Z Man" Pond, 30, of Loves Park, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. Zachary was born August 20, 1996 in Rockford, IL, the son of Jeffrey and Janet (Lewis) Pond.
Zachary came into this world a fighter and left it the same way. He spent his entire 30 years living at home being cared for by his mom Janet, dad Jeff, sister Tabetha, Nana Karen and Papa Gearld Pond.
Zachary had the biggest and brightest smile. Zachary enjoyed watching tv, especially his favorite show, Spongebob. His favorite part of the day was getting his hair washed, that is when you would get the biggest smile.
Zachary is survived by his mother, Janet Pond; sister, Tabetha Pond (Margi Tinberg); his paternal grandparents, Gearld and Karen Pond; aunt, Kari (Steve) Tanker; uncle, Jerry Pond and uncle, Dave (Teri) Lewis. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey D. Pond and maternal grandfather, James H. Lewis.
A very special thank you to his nurses, Debra Robertson and Ashley Welte. They become a part of our family and loved Zachary dearly.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
