A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 11th, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Asbell officiating. Masks and social distancing must be observed to be in attendance.
Born in Cuthbert, GA on March 30, 1935 to Mrs. Garrett Burgin, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, A.H.S. Weaver, Jr. M.D. and her daughters, Charing Adele Weaver and infant Alexandra Weaver. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Weaver Hogan and her husband, Hunter Norton, and grandson, Hunter Alexander Hogan; her brother Joe Carter Burgin, Jr. and his wife Pat of Petoskey, Michigan; nephews Joe C. Burgin, III and his wife Lynn of Oak Harbor, WA, Chris Burgin and his wife Laura of Atlantic Beach, FL, and Rob Burgin and his wife Amanda of Beaufort, SC; and 8 great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Weaver graduated from A.L. Miller High School and then attended Wesleyan College before transferring to the University of Florida where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Education, she taught middle grades math and science first in Macon and then in Augusta while her husband was completing his medical training.
After returning to Macon, she was an active member and past president of the History Club of Macon, the Junior League of Macon, the former Bibb County Medical Auxiliary, and the Embroiderers’ Guild. A gourmet chef and considerate hostess, she loved to entertain family and friends with her husband for any and all occasions. She also loved to read and to paint, jigsaw puzzles, and all types of needlework; she was a member of not one, but two Sewing Clubs, known for sewing, but also for tasty lunches, priceless advice, support, and love. A member of Vineville United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir and also helped lead the effort to design and then needlepoint the altar kneelers featuring the Lord’s Prayer, one of her proudest accomplishments.
