Alice Elizabeth “Betty” Oldham Sanders, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be held prior for family only in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Tom Kaplan and Rev. Joe McDaniel will officiate. The family will greet friends following the memorial service and asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Middle Georgia Art Association, 2330 Ingleside Avenue, Macon 31204.
Mrs. Sanders was born in Macon, Georgia the daughter of the late Alice Belle Lockerman and Joseph Edward Oldham, Sr. and was the widow of Charles Richard Sanders, Sr. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gail Sanders, sister, Ann Wilson and brother, Billy Oldham. Mrs. Sanders was the former bookkeeper of Oldham’s Opticians, a member of Mabel White Baptist Church, the Joy Sunday School Class, former President of the Bibb County Council of PTAs, former President of the Civic Women’s Club, former President of the Middle Georgia Art Association, former Chairman of Mulberry Street Festival and former President of the Northwoods Neighborhood Association.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her children, Charles R. “Chuck” Sanders, Jr. of Perry, Scott Edward Sanders of Athens, and Camille Sanders (Tom Powell) of Riverside, CA; grandchildren, Kelly McRee, Emily Votruba (Jiri), John Scott (Molly), Richard Scott (Rebecca), Riley Sanders, Zach Sanders, Carlye Sanders, Nic Sanders, and Leah Sanders; great-grandchildren, Orion McRee, Cedar McRee, Natalia Votruba, Gabriela Votruba, Adam Votruba, Leighton Scott, Elliott Scott, Wyn Scott, Julia Scott, Henry Scott, and Mary Scott; sister, Jeanette Oldham Hopper; several nieces and nephews.
