Anna Fountain Collier, 89, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church on Monday, April 4 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Perkins officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Anna asked that donations be made to the Methodist Children’s Home, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon 31204 or donor’s favorite charity.
Anna was born on April 19, 1926 in Gordon, Georgia to the late Harvie and Mae Wood Fountain. She lived in Washington, Georgia for 18 years before moving to Macon in 1972. Anna graduated in 1946 as an RN from Macon Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at University Hospital and the VA Hospital in Augusta, the hospital in Washington, GA. Anna retired in 1983 as a charge nurse from Middle Georgia Hospital in Macon.
Anna married George Collier on August 23, 1952, and was married for 36 years until his death in November 1988. She was a faithful member of Mulberry Methodist Church, The Solomon Fellowship Sunday School Class, Trinity Circle, The Young at Heart travel group, The American Legion Auxillary Post 3 and the Bibb County Golden Kiwanis Club. She was also a long time supporter of The Methodist Childrens Home and Macon Outreach.
Anna enjoyed and served on many committees at Mulberry Methodist that helped the community. She enjoyed the fellowship and friendship that was created while doing so. She loved to travel and spending time with family and friends.
Her greatest joy was being a loving, faithful wife, mother, and especially Grandmother. Anna loved her siblings as well and always looked forward to their visits. She was a woman of great faith and trust in her savior.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Joseph McNally of Deland Florida, where she lived for the past six years; her son, Robert G. Collier of Opelika, Alabama; her grandchildren, Tara Cunningham, Michael McNally, both of Florida, Leesa and Laura Collier of Georgia.
