Barbara Creter Every, 78, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 PM at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Creede Hinshaw, Rev. Jimmy Towson, and Dr. Rick Lanford officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. A private burial will be held on Monday at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church Music Fund, 719 Mulberry Street, Macon 31201 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Barbara was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Stuart Aiken and Ruth Lucas Creter. She was preceded in death by Rollo Merritt Every, Jr., her husband who passed away in 2003 after 43 years of marriage. Barbara was the owner of Creter’s Gifts, a family business started in 1947 by her late father. After his unexpected death, Barbara assumed ownership of Creter’s at the age of 18. Due to Barbara’s loving, compassionate, and welcoming nature, Creter’s has continued to thrive for over 60 years. She embraced each and every customer with a kind heart and warm smile. Patrons loved to have their gifts wrapped and adorned with one of Barbara’s signature bows.
Barbara cherished the close and lasting friendships cultivated over the years from being a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, Joy Sunday School Class, Esther Circle, the Macon Junior Woman’s Club, and the customers who frequented Creter’s over the years. She devoted her life to being a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and life-long friend.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patsy (Steve) Knott of Macon and Margaret (Jay) Dennard of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Taylor Knott, Lindsey Knott, Trey Dennard and Will Dennard; brother, Neil (Marsha) Creter of Macon; and her beloved Corgi, Buddy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Pointe Hospice and Gwinnett Medical Center for their compassionate and expert care.
